Miskolc is the third most populated town of Hungary, the biggest town in North Hungary and Borsod-Abauj-Zemplén county seat. Az ország legrégebben lakott települése. The name "Miskolc" comes from the ancient family name, Miskóc. The city was founded in approximately 1173 Miskoucz on name.
Miskolc is situated in the most important spot of the North central chain of mountains. Around the town the fringes of the Bükk Mountains, Cserehát, Zemplén Mountains and the Great Plain converge upon each other.
